Dennis Dougherty
Dennis Dougherty has been involved in theatre for more than 35 years, working in NJ, NY and PA as an actor, director, assistant director, stage manager and more. Additionally, his professional life has included work as a theatre and film critic, arts reporter/writer/editor and publicist/media relations specialist for a variety of artistic and cultural entities – from Paper Mill Playhouse and New Jersey Ballet to Lincoln Center and Rowan University’s College of Fine & Performing Arts. As a director, he has staged productions of Falsettos, The Tempest, The Glass Menagerie, James Joyce's The Dead, Children of Eden, Beyond Therapy, Little Shop of Horrors, The Sound of Music, Our Town and Beehive. As an actor, he has portrayed (among others) James Wicker in It’s Only A Play, Geoffrey in The Lion in Winter, The King in Big River, Dale Harding in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Michael in Dancing at Lughnasa, Miles Jarvis in The Swan Song, Bobby in American Buffalo, Gus Sharkey in Leader of the Pack, Titus Savage in The Curious Savage and Scrooge in A Dickens Christmas Carol: A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts.
