Stagecrafters Opens the Season with Outside Mullingar
Stagecrafters begins the 2018-2019 season with John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar opening on September 13th. The play set in the midlands of Ireland is a romantic comedy-drama involving two middle-aged farmers, Rosemary and Anthony, who live on adjoining farms. Rosemary has been romantically interested in Anthony all her life but he is unaware of her feelings.
A land feud, familial rivalries and their own fears inhibit the relationship. Unlikely as it seems that romance will happen, Rosemary’s determination eventually brings happiness to these two souls.
John Patrick Shanley is the author of more that twenty-three plays. His play Doubt: A Parable won four Tony Awards including Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He has also written for film including the screenplay for Moonstruck which one three Academy Awards. Outside Mullingar opened on Broadway in 2014.
