Splash into summer with MCT’s latest production, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID. This undersea adventure opens Friday, July 14 at The Shannondell Performing Arts Theater, 1000 Shannondell Blvd., Audubon, PA. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale and the 1989 Disney film of the same name, The Little Mermaid features a memorable score by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater.
MCT’s THE LITTLE MERMAID features Lindsay Kulp as Ariel, the young mermaid who dreams of life above the water, and Mitch King as Prince Eric, a daring prince who loves the sea. Matt Lake portrays Grimsby, Eric’s wise and beloved valet/ guardian. Geoff Desiato plays Sebastian, the trusted advisor to Ariel’s father, King Triton, who is played by Brett Kahn. Ariel’s sisters are played by Alisa Ambrose, Tess Ansbro, Alicia Culleton Mary Beth Gries, Marissa Garcia , and Anna Potson. Ariel’s best friend, a small fish named Flounder, is characterized by Clara Farrell with Skylar Ortiz as understudy. Ariel is also helped along the way by Scuttle, played by Jaedto Smith-Lawson, a seagull who is an ‘expert’ in human things. Ursula, the sea witch and King Triton’s sister, is played by Laura Shapella. She is aided in her deeds by her lackeys, Flotsam and Jetsam, portrayed by Elizabeth Kirsch and Katy Bondi. On land, Chef Louis, played by Sam Frenkel, serves up a grand dinner for the Prince and his guests. A talented ensemble of land and sea creatures, sailors, and princesses round out the cast.
The Little Mermaid is under the direction of Nicolette Adams assisted by Mike Addice. Brian Shapella provides the choral direction, Raquel García directs the orchestra and the show’s choreographer is Becca Schiel assisted by Kayla Smull. Barbara Cross and Brenda Capwell are the show’s producers. The set designer and construction lead is John Cross with Colleen Algeo as set decorator. Evan McElhiney is the show’s lighting designer and the sound design is under the direction of Ryan Kadwill. Sue Carney, Nancy Randall, and Brenda Hunsberger are costume designers and Katie McCool is the show’s the stage manager. Props mistress is Heather McElhiney and the show’s makeup artist is Julie Kruk.
Evening shows are July 15, 15, 20, 12, and 22 at 7:30 pm. Matinees are on July 16 and 23 at 2:00 pm. All shows take place at Shannondell Performing Arts Theater, 1000 Shannondell Blvd. Audubon, PA.
Tickets for The Little Mermaid are at $18.00 for ages 12-61 and $15.00 for Seniors 62+ and Children under 12. Ticket prices include a 10% Lower Providence Township Entertainment Tax.
