THE LAST FIVE YEARS is a contemporary musical from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown. An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show. The show captures some of the most heartbreaking and universally felt moments of modern romance, unfolding through an incredible and now beloved score. The cast album of THE LAST FIVE YEARS became one of its record label’s best-selling albums of all time, being named as one of Time Magazine’s 10 Best of 2001 and winning Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics. This show is an intensely personal examination of the rise and fall of a relationship, the games couples’ play, and the multidimensionality of a person. The inspiring music with its powerful vocal ranges carry the storyline and will stay with you long after final bows.
The LAST FIVE YEARS opens Friday, May 19 at 8:00pm with additional shows Saturday, May 20 at 8:00pm and Sunday, May 21 at 2:00pm. After a break for Memorial Day Weekend, the show returns for two additional weekends, running weekends from Friday, June 2nd through Sunday, June 11th. All evening shows are at 8:00pm; Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. Tickets are still just $16 per person (because of adult language, it is not recommended for young children).
