The Dramateurs, Inc. at the Barn Playhouse will present the Marc Shaiman and Terrence McNally musical CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. Performances begin August 19 and continue August 20, 26, 27, September 2 and 3 at 8:00 pm. There is also a matinee performance August 28 at 2:00 pm.
Based on the hit film, starring Leonardo DeCaprio and Tom Hanks, and the incredible true story, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is the high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught. Seeking fame and fortune, precocious teenager Frank Abagnale, Jr. runs away from home to begin an unforgettable adventure. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer – living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. But when Frank’s lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty, Carl pursues Frank across the country to make him pay for his crimes.
The musical first premiered on Broadway in March 2011 and featured direction by Jack O’Brien, choreography by Jerry Mitchell and performances by Norbert Leo Butz, Aaron Tveit, Tom Wopat and Kerry Butler. The production was nominated for four Tony Awards with Norbert Leo Butz winning for Best Actor.
The Dramateurs’ production features a talented cast of actors from across the area. Justin Damm of Plymouth Meeting plays Frank Abaganale, Jr. Sandy Yozviak of Conshohocken and Steven Schulz of Oaks portray Frank’s parents, Paula and Frank Sr. Paul Recupero of Malvern portrays FBI agent Carl Hanratty and Brittany Recupero plays Frank’s love interest, nurse Brenda Strong. The production is directed by Steve DiNenno of Norristown with music direction by Konnie Stark of Lansdale.
