Old Academy Players proudly presents BUS STOP written by Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award Winning Playwright, William Inge.
Philadelphia, PA – William Inge’s BUS STOP is the fourth play in the exciting Old Academy Players 2014-15 Season and its 495th production. It runs March 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22, 2015. It is directed by Paul Muscarella and produced by Dale Mezzacappa and Pat Pelletreau.
Bus Stop was nominated for four Tony Awards! This classic charming romantic comedy is about a diverse and quirky group of strangers snowbound in a Kansas diner. Excitement and fun abound with the talented cast starring: Laura Salinas as Grace Hoyland, Amber Marie Payne as Elma Duckworth, Gerry Alexander as Will Masters, Robert Toczek as Carl, Eric Rupp as Dr. Gerald Lyman, Sarah Heddins as Cherie, Parke Fech as Bo Decker, and Vail Gualtieri as Virgil Blessing.
Cherie; a girl of limited talent from the Ozarks, is the star singer at a seedy nightclub in Kansas City. There, she captivates Beau, a cowboy fresh off the ranch for the first time. He decides she “is the one” for him and with his disapproving older sidekick hustles her onto a bus headed for his home. They don’t get too far when they become snowbound, taking refuge in Grace’s diner. The unwilling and desperate Cherie seeks help. Beau uses all his innocent, clumsy charm and brawn to convince her to marry him. The others stranded in the diner are the tough, but kind-hearted proprietor, Grace; Elma, her perky, idealistic teenaged waitress; an alcoholic professor who has a secret; the local sheriff and the bus driver who…well, we don’t want to give it all away. Will Beau win Cherie’s heart? Come, find out and be delightfully moved, charmed and entertained!
