CLEVER DICK, a potboiler of a mystery by Charles Marowitz, will open at The Stagecrafters on Friday, November 28, 2014. In this zany send-up of the classic British murder-at-the-manor whodunit (which also pokes wicked fun at the English class system), the Lord of the House meets an unexpected and inexplicable end. The stalwart Inspector Farcus of Scotland Yard arrives to investigate and unearths shocking details of the decadent lives of the mansion residents. As justice is being served, we are treated to a thoroughly riotous sex farce.
Charles Marowitz, American critic, theater director, and playwright active in the London theater scene, is the author of “Sherlock’s Last Case”, which was produced on Broadway in 1987, and also at The Stagecrafters in 2004. His CLEVER DICK, written a couple of years later as a companion piece and published in a collection, “Potboilers”, has enjoyed numerous productions in Britain and this country.
